Yesterday I called Swan Island Dahlias. Now there is a place I would go to if I could and maybe I just will.
Thanks to the generosity of Jeryl, I was able to get some dahlias. I paid extra for them to be shipped next week. Jody really likes this particular place! I asked the girl about the pots and she said, plain dirt but no week killer in it. She told me NOT to put blood meal to keep the squirrels away. But someone (Paula?) said it would keep the squirrels away?
Anyways, she said, one tuber in a 15 inch pot. I could put a few more in the barrel in the back yard. But it was helpful.
So I have many pots to put together; for the tomatoes and front veggies, all the dahlias and flowers for the deck. i will likely spend a lot of money on the garden this year. We met with our financial advisor. It's actually ridiculous, our situation. I do appreciate that company that has served us so well over 30 years.
My bulb pots lasted one month. Good to remember....
Connie P. told me to plant some portulaca in a pot. I might do that in a small pot.
