The good news is that the garden survived. The pretty purple flowers fell over and broke but I am leaving them in the grown in hopes that they will re-seed for next year. One of the potato plants in the blue container looks sick but everything else is okay. Hooray for the pots.
Also, the cool weather veggie are pretty amazing. Sugar snaps, arugula, lettuce- actually seemed to like the snow.
I should have taken a picture of the tomatoes so I can see how they grow. I am so thankful for Joan and Laura who are watching the garden as well as Joe Paluga who is going to water the tomatoes and cut our grass
I think the poppies will bloom while I am gone. I have 4 coming and already had a white and orange, odd. I put in impatiens in that North garden since the watering is double there with soaker and spray.
This makes the grass looks good but the seed does not seem to be working and there is a robin that I wonder if she is eating the seeds.
I put in a couple more annuals, a carnation and another petunia
Tom put up the sugar snap wall. I have now planted over on the left side: cukes, zucchini, yellow squash, beans and edamame and two pepper plants. I saw at Ace that there is a beetle destruction kit so I hope I don't need it but I'll get it if I have to

May 19 report
This explains what happened. I woke up in LA on Thursday and Joan had put on FB that it had snowed. Ugh. I kind of worried but then just forgot about it and enjoyed a beautiful day and flight home. Rushed home and covered everything.
Inside the house
May 19th was so cold and there was a freeze warning.

May 12, 2017- report
The most exciting news is the poppy.
There are many seeds coming up near the deck and the air conditioner.
Carrots and Beets have made an appearance.
I really need to do some thinning when I get back.
The pine tree garden is looking really nice. Some seeds coming up but mostly the perennials
Tom got the soaker systems in the North bed
Some gladiolas in the fence bed
I took a bath and decided to take some of the water and water the plants. I am very conscious of water. I know that in the summer we will spend more on water.
I also planted some Cosmos to the left in the pine tree garden.
No hummers yet which is very sad for me but one of the neighbors called to Tom and said, "Tom, did you know you have a red shirt on your roof? You are not one to leave things around." 😆😆

Snow storm- 9 inches on April 28, 2017. Planting annuals. Seeds coming up.
So I am a bit behind keeping track of what is going on in the garden.
Friday night, the storm blew in and I covered the veggie garden. There were just tiny little sprouts coming in. I had planted a few petunias and they had "hats" on. The rest of the annual were in the house.

The lilacs even survived. By Monday, all the snow was gone
So on Tuesday, I planted the annuals. I really wanted them out of the house so I could wash my floor. Tom aerated that day, his shoe method. We wished we had know that it was going to POUR rain but the weather man had it wrong....
We went to the office on Wednesday morning in driving rain. The grass seed, rats!
Wednesday evening there was sort of a frost warning. Not wanting to take any chances, I covered things.
Here is what I have done in terms of planting of annuals:
I also just spread the wildflower seed everywhere along the Mormon family fence, some in near the Lamb's ear in the Northeast corner garden, and also near the Iris' at the Rowe's fence. We'll see what happens.
Some of the Wildflower seeds are sprouting near the house!
Alas, to my dismay, no hummers yet. Still hoping and actually praying about it!
