Getting near the end of the short season August 26,2015

Two weeks after the 3rd hail hit, the zucchini are showing new life.  As usual, the male plants showed up a few days ago and today there are two female flowers.  I did the pollinating just to make sure.

How the pine tree garden looks now near the end of the season
Been encouraged with the work I've done to the north of the Pine tree garden along the fence

Had to add these gladiolas.  I've never grown them. I put some bulbs into the blue box

An idea to prevent blossom end rot on my tomatoes

May 8, 2015
It's like Noah and the flood out there so no need to even think about planting before Mother's Day.  Talked to a gardener about tomatoes.  Here is the youtube

August 4- Zucchini made a comeback then disastrous hail yet again on August 11

So it took about 10 days....first the male flowers showed up. I learned that happened to attract bees.  Then on July 31, 4 female plants!
Pretty amazing. I had been really giving TLC to the garden, out there every day, dead heading petunias, fertilizing.

It all paid off.  The first week of August, 8 zucchini growing well, then the hail on Aug 11. oh well

July 23: Arriving home after a hail storm

Sometime between July 20 in the morning to July 23 at night, hail came and decimated my garden.  Well, parts of it.  The tomatoes in the front of the house were fine.  But the zucchini....

Before I left, here are a few pictures:

I could not take pictures on July 24. too sad
