Ace sale and planting some seeds April 29,2018

Although Blake and Jeryl were here, I got up early and got to Ace at 7am. Already many people were there. Interestingly enough, many Chinese.  It's great that Highlands Ranch is becoming more diverse.

I bought 30 little plants.  I sure hope they survive until I can plant them. I have asked Joe P. if he would water them and the seeds I planted.

He has not confirmed that yet so I might have to think of a new plan

Lilacs budded out on April 29

I decided to give up on the hummingbirds this year.  Too much other things to be concerned about.

Behind on the garden this year April 22, 2018

Over the last few months, Feb 18 (very warm) was one day, I've been clearing out the gardens especially the pine needles.  I wish that pine tree had never been planted but it was not my house at the time.  I think I've cleared pine needles 3 times and Tom did it once.

We had a wet snow on April 20, looked quite wintery that day but then on the 21st, it was 60 degrees and sunny.  We bought one bag of garden soil and one of compost and I spent the afternoon amending the veggie garden and two of the flower gardens.  It was hard work and I had to be careful not to mess up the irrigation systems.

I have not planted any seeds yet.  Tom thinks I should wait until May 10 and maybe that would be a good idea. I will be away 3 days this week and then 6 days next week.  Debbie Rowe offered to water the seeds but the side of the house is now blocked with the juniper tree that Tom cut down today.  I think I will have to wait until after my trip to CA.

I don't understand why more of the perennials I planted last year have not come up this year.  Rather bummed about that.
